The Belle of the Ball
danced all night in her pretty dress..
Ooh la la!
The naked truth!
As you can see...
I finished my orders and have
too much time on my hands.
Yesterday, I bought these beautiful roses,
they are the perfect shade of pink
with a hint of green..
I thought to show them off with my
newly made bed-throw.
I made the bed-throw with lace, the pink that is showing
underneath is my quilt cover.
For this round cushion I used silk with a lace center.
I love this lace with the little oval shapes,
it is made with a high percentage of cotton
so it feels very...
This week I had to catch up with late orders.
Rushing, trying to go a little faster, doesn't work!
I've cut and pricked my fingers too many times
and I'm typing with plasters now..
See what I've finished today..
Pink Silk goodness!
This time the client wanted a removable skirt
to cover the legs of the Moses basket stand.
I like to lift up the canopy with this oval
hanger, it can be lowered or...
How many more ways to hide those tissues?
These are flat tissue covers, I hid half a tissue box's
contents in it.
I used three layers of lace on each side.
Even if I tried, I couldn't add any more...
Here I will show you how I made these:
I used padded material (remember my new blanket?)
27 x 30 cm.
On the long side I stitched bias-band to
the sides and added this trim.
Here I stitched a long layer of...
I made some more pocket tissue covers,
this time in pretty pink.
15 is just the right number before I start seeing stars..
Anytime I have the chance to show off my
table cover, I take it!
This towel-stand didn't escape the paintbrush...
I love the green colour.
It seams that in April
we should sow some seeds.
I hope you have a wonderful week.
Today I will join in with
This week I've been working hard
to finish my orders.
I always take on more than I can handle and because
babies don't wait.. It must be finished on time!
I thought these were called baby pouches,
after going through 'Google search' I found out
they are called Baby Nests.
Nobody told me!
I also finished this matching set,
a baby nest and Moses basket.
A few years ago I covered these
perfume bottles and now...
A few days ago I passed by Pottery Barn
and found this glass cloche with stand on sale..
It is a perfect size to keep my two bunnies under.
I have to keep my small breakables behind glass
away from my clumsy cat!
He would chew the moss and I would have to go
on an egg hunt to find these eggs again..
Did you notice the bunnies on this material?
I love the colour and print.
look at this lovely silk...
Last week I made a few carry pillows
for new born babies.
I love the heart design on the lace
and how it is gathered in the corners.
On this pillow I stitched the lace onto the base.
This is a pillow cover and the insert can
be taken out for easy washing.
I love the material of this blanket.
It is made of pure cotton, even the wading,
perfect for summer!
I bought a few, I will use them to make
Last week I decided to go on a break
from sewing and picked up a paint brush..
I have many vintage chairs and tables
I once went on a shopping spree at auction
and had a 20 foot container sent
over to Dubai.
We are using a lot of the pieces at home, some were sold
and the rest were stacked away.
and many other ladies made me brave enough
to pick up a...
Today I finished this pretty diaper-stacker
and toy-bag for a client that came all the way
from Scotland to collect!
The toy bag has silk bows so it can be tied to the crib.
For the little blanket I used soft cotton
on both sides.
The extra material on the sides are for tucking in.
This iron bed is still waiting to be covered.
You can see the thickness of the mattress,
I have them all custom made.
This week I managed to make five
Cream and pink ...
Beige and pink...
Some more tissue covers...
This one is less girly, I thought the guys
might want one!
Here is my bed-cover displayed in the shop
where I bring my items.
I love their French bed.
Look at this beauty!
Fit for a little prince or princess.
This is the last four poster baby bed I have
and it is still available in
Kleenex has a new shaped tissue box..
an oval one!
For some not very exciting.. but for me,
I just have to cover it..
I used padded sides and because the top
of the box is plain,
gathered lace was enough to cover it.
I was happy to find spring flowers here in the market.
They smell so nice, every time I pass by
I need to get a whiff.
What better companion to a tissue box
is a boudoir seat..
Pink is still my favorite colour, it looks so sweet
with soft green and yellow.
This week I enjoyed making pillows
and tissue box covers in different
textures and shapes.
Vanilla-cream, silk roses..
An over-sized pillow, I love this ABC fabric.
I have a small piece left and can't find any more...
To make this little cushion, I didn't need
a sewing machine and all my spare wading
trims disappeared in...
Today I am having fun with Picasa..
and showing off my two new cushions.
I have this beautiful style book for
I would love to use all these colours in my home.
A splash of spring freshness
to cheer you up.
My cushions fit right in...
The clash of wallpaper and curtains
are so sweet.
How about this wonderful mirror!
All my background...
Today I made this sweet cushion with a
toile panel, framed with lace.
The shop where I bring my items to had some
discontinued material samples, just enough
to make a small cushion.
Here I covered some baskets to keep
little wrapped towels in.
I used a tiny strip of Velcro to keep
the wrap into place.
I hope you have a wonderful week.
Today I will be joining in with
This week I've been busy with this bed throw.
I used soft velvet and many layers of lace.
Velvet ribbons and satin ribbons..
I used three different base lace and to connect
them I hid the seams with gathered lace.
I want to make a nice pink one next.
I'm having fun!
I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.
Today I'll be joining in with
I have a few yards of this dark beige floral lace
and today I used it in a few of my projects.
Here I covered a perfume bottle..
The lace is easy to cut, I just followed the flowers.
I added a panel to the front of the round cushion
and a bit to the side of the tissue box cover.
Here I added two layers of lace to
the table cover.
I love my new finds,
paper flowers in a pretty soft pink colour
We can never get enough of
cream and beige...
I had to fill up the corners of this baby pouch.
The request was to make the front panel round
so this was my only option and I think
it turned out great!
These days I add four layers of lace
around the the skirt of the Moses Basket.
I have many requests from overseas
for a baby bed or Moses baskets.
I am sorry, I don't send outside the
This was my...
I would like to show you my
new Baby Bed with Butterflies..
Wrought Iron, solid beauty,
covered with cotton material on the inside
and ivory silk on the outside, held up
by twelve silk bows.
This design softly swings...
I love this bed!
I used organza material for the canopy
and sprinkled on some butterflies.
Here it shows how the bed can swing.
I added eight layers of cotton lace
to the bottom of the...
One of my favorite things to make are
Baby carry pillows.
This one is so sweet with three layers
of lace all around.
I make them with loose inserts so
they can be easily washed.
On this one I used cotton lace.
A perfect match!
I hope you have a great weekend.
Today I will be joining in with
The days are flying by..
so much to do and so little time.
Last week I finished these cushions
to match the cover I made before.
This cushion measures 70 x 70 cm...
I hope you are having a wonderful week.
The computer swallowed grandma.
Yes, honestly it’s true!
She pressed 'control' and 'enter'
And disappeared from view.
It devoured her completely,
The thought just makes me squirm.
She must have caught a virus
Or been eaten by a worm.
I've searched through the recycle bin
And files of every kind;
I've even used the Internet,
But nothing did I find.
In desperation, I asked Jeeves
My searches to...
I love how this Moses basket turned out!
A splash of purple makes this one stand out..
I changed the design of the curtain a bit.
I added the layers of lace at the bed's level.
The request was to make the curtain so
that it can later be used over the
This Moses basket has a hood.
This blanket looks antique, it's made of
super soft cotton.
Winter time in Dubai...
Sun with a temperature of 24...
I love it when my daughters ask me
'What would you like for Christmas?'
I knew exactly what and where to get it from...
This beautiful carpet was on my mind for a long time
and Global Village was the place!
The carpet is handmade, cross stitched with wool.
I am so happy with it.
Thank you girls!
Today I finished making these
chair pad covers for my dining chairs.
I seldom make things for me to keep,
Back to work...
Today I finished this pretty Moses Basket
for a sweet little girl.
I used the softest cotton to line the basket.
Off white with a touch of pink.
This design is great because the pink is
easily removed to make way for any other colour.
I used my precious SIA flowers on this crown.
So very sweet and the little princess
is already waiting.
My holiday flew by, I enjoyed visiting my daughter
in England and my parents in Holland.
I usually pair the auction time with my visit.
Here are a few of the items I found.
I fell in love with these sweet Angels.
I was looking for a rose bowl
and now I found one...
Aren't these cake plates pretty?
I love the pink flowers on them.
Sigh... just perfect!
I think the words written under the Angels are
One day before I travel...
I finished my Moses baskets.
This is the bed I made two days ago
and the lady couldn't make up her mind,
beige or pink bows and flowers...
It ended up with beige.
Now a complete different basket,
For this baby basket I used cotton
for the lining and four layers of lace on the
These oval shaped panels
can pull the canopy up from the sides
to play with the...
Today I finished this beige silk Moses basket.
I have to make one more before I travel...
I'll leave on the 18th to England to see my
youngest daughter who is studying in Colchester
and stay with her for four days.
Then hop over to Holland to visit my parents
for two weeks.
I requested lots of rain and cold weather...
These beautiful roses I got from my better half,
we celebrated our 36th year wedding...
Today I'm in the tissue cover making mood!
The shop where I bring my items to
were asking for them.
On this cover I used the lace with the
cut out flowers.
This flower trim is handmade from Turkey
and looks so sweet stitched on this
small tissue box cover.
I hope you have a wonderful week.
I still have a lot of lavender from my
last vacation in France.
Today I used some to make these cute sachets.
First I made a few tissue-box covers
and had some velvet material scraps over,
just enough to make one sachet...
It turned out so cute,
now I had to make some more.
They look nice for the picture..
So does she...
I love working with lavender,
now my craft-room smells so nice.
Today I finished this coverlet.
I think it will be easier to use than a quilt cover.
It can be used over a blanket or quilt and could be removed
before going to bed so it doesn't need to be washed
as often as a quilt cover.
I made a bed-skirt to match.
These pillows were a headache to make,
I found it hard to get all the gathering
to match up equally.
It took me a whole day of fidgeting and I don't
I had a request to make a baby blanket
with a matching bonnet.
I didn't make this design before.
I used ribbons and lace on the outside
and cotton for the backing.
The silk bonnet is also lined with soft
and warm material.
Dubai is a hot country but the air-conditioners
are always on.
I hope you are enjoying your weekend.
Today I will be joining in with
Done and dusted!
40 towel wraps for giveaways,
wouldn't you like to be on that guest list?
A strip of Velcro keeps the wrap into place.
I had to show off these cute crochet hearts,
I don't take credit for making them...
and my tiny ceramic flowers and not to
forget that amazing hand made table runner.
I hope you are having
a wonderful week.
I will be joining in with
This week I was busy making more favours.
I thought to show you my new material too...
Not one square of the silk patch work
is the same.
All it needs is some lace here and there
to become a bed-cover...
I love the crown on this tissue-holder.
They look so pretty with three layers of lace.
Wishing you Happy Eid Celebrations.
Today I made something different...
Cotton bud holders covered in toile,
draped with lace, a dash of trim, and
sprinkled with flowers.
I started with plain cotton bud containers.
These flip open from the side and are a little
trickier than the ones that have a top cover.
I took the measurement of the circumference
and cut the material precisely at the edge.
I then glued it into place,
and made a mark...
Today I finished the second Moses Basket,
on this one I added a hood.
I love this small blanket, I used different
strips cotton lace stitched over each other.
On this canopy I used a 30 cm layer of silk
for the top part, it brings the basket and canopy together.
Not to forget a matching baby pouch...
I used an Austrian-lace panel for the top.
Here in Dubai we have a shop that sells
French and Austrian...
